What does Loaves & Fishes do?

We provide supplemental food bags for qualified, low-income families and individuals each week.  We also provide monthly cleaning supplies, toiletries, household items, baby essentials, and prescription financial assistance for non-narcotic medicines to current, registered clients.

Does Loaves & Fishes help the homeless?

Yes. We provide a bagged lunch Monday-Thursday each week, as well as a monthly toiletry/hygiene bag.

What documents do I need to become a client at Loaves & Fishes?

Current proof of address for all household members, current proof of income for the entire household, and your current lease/rental/mortgage statement.

Can I still receive food without any documentation?

Yes.  If you live in Orange County, you may visit Loaves & Fishes Monday-Thursday from 11:30-2:00 to receive an emergency food bag.  

What do I do if I need food and do not live in Orange County or in the Loaves & Fishes service areas?

You can visit www.feedhopenow.org/need_food for a food pantry near you or call Second Harvest Food Bank at (407) 295-1066.

Do I need an appointment to sign up at Loaves & Fishes?

Yes.  It is recommended. To make an appointment, please call the office at (407) 886-6005 during our business hours, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.  

How long is the process to sign up at Loaves & Fishes if I have all my required documents?

It should take no more than 10 minutes.

I would like to volunteer. Does Loaves & Fishes have any openings?

Please call our office (407) 886-6005 during our normal business hours and ask for Karen.

My son/daughter needs volunteer hours for college and/or Bright Futures. Can they work at Loaves & Fishes for the hours required?

Yes. We have limited space during summer and holidays. The student must be age 16 or older to volunteer. Please call Karen (407) 886-6005 during our normal business hours for more information.

What kind of donations do you take?

Financial assistance, in-date canned foods, Macaroni & Cheese, Hamburger Helper, dry pasta, dry soup, peanut butter, jelly, pop-tops for homeless clients, rice, cereal, snack bars, Pop-Tarts, individually wrapped crackers, Slim Jims, dish soap, pine cleaner, laundry soap, toilet paper, deodorant, razors, shave cream, shampoo, body wash, bar soap, tooth paste, tooth brushes, baby formula, diapers, wipes, Depends, dishes, pots & pans, small kitchen appliances, laundered sheets, towels, blankets and washcloths.

Where and when can I bring my donations?

We accept donations in the back of the building at the blue doors during our normal business hours, Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-2:30 pm. Our address is: 206 E. 8th Street, Apopka.

Do you take clothing donations?

No.

Do you accept toy donations?

Only NEW toys, which we distribute at Christmas to our clients with children.

How do I donate financially?

You can donate through our website or mail your check or money order to:  Loaves & Fishes, 206 E. 8th Street, Apopka, FL  32703. All donations are tax deductible.
